Gillainey Orchard’s began in 1995 when a brother (“Gil”) and his sister (“Lainey”) purchased an orchard from the Thompson family in Paringa, South Australia. The original orchard was about 80ha and was planted with a mix of both citrus and stone fruits.

From that original orchard, surrounding broadacre land has been purchased and plantings at the site have greatly increased and are now all citrus of various varieties..

With the growth of the orchard operation it became clear a packing shed would be an opportunity and Gillainey Packing Pty Ltd began operation on 1st July 2005.

A second citrus property was purchased in 2014 and Gillainey’s planted area under production now exceeds 450ha.

Gillainey’s two orchards located in South Australian’s Riverland region enable marketing of fresh citrus over an extended season of May to December. The Riverland is recognised as a clean growing environment with ideal climatic conditions and soil types for quality fruit production.

Reliance on the natural environment of the River Murray and its surroundings has led Gillainey to adopt specific, sustainable environmental practices. The orchard’s management systems incorporate the latest production technology, environmentally responsible irrigation and integrated pest management practices and minimal chemical use.
